Australian Prisoners of War in World War Two (1940-1945)
By Xena Dakkak
Throughout World War 2 between the years 1940 and 1945, 30,000 Australians were taken captive as prisoners of war (POW's) by the Italians, Japanese and Germans. Although the Australian POW’s in Europe experienced hardship, they weren’t as well-known and remembered as the POW’s captured in Asia.
